Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has had a huge profile in the business community over the past few years, becoming a key buzzword and importantly an integral part of business strategy for many forward-thinking businesses. It is an investment for the future, but inevitably it requires financial resource of some kind, whether actual cash or time which can be a challenge for some small businesses.
So how can small businesses benefit from their CSR activities? There are key advantages for businesses, particularly when working with their local community. The wide range of benefits of course includes increased publicity to your target market: for example, for many businesses, local customers are an important source of sales. Demonstrating commitment to your community can also improve your business reputation and, in turn, make it easier for you to recruit or retain employees.
Community engagement is one of the key pillars of corporate social responsibility (CSR), and it is needed now more than ever following the tumultuous year resulting from the global pandemic. Community groups and services have lost considerable revenue which is so critical to them and their provision to the local community.
FUNDING ROUND has this year committed to supporting Kesteven Rugby Club, based in Grantham. The club has been established since 1947 and has provided much fun and friendship to thousands of players. Nowadays it offers rugby to over 400 girls, boys, ladies and men, aged 6 years through to 60! The five core values of rugby match our own, which was important to us:
- Teamwork
- Respect
- Enjoyment
- Sportsmanship
- Discipline
With its motto of One Club, One Family, it really does pull together a wide range of local individuals and create one large family and community! We can only see benefit for our business being part of the KRFC family.
